Zooming In Zooming out

When I’m in my studio, I shift between different modes of being, and each one is reflected in my work. While nature has always been a major influence for me, I have learned to allow myself to truly embody my emotions and express them in my art.

As I stand back and look at the past two years of work, I can see these modes clearly. At times I worked in a deep, contemplative way. I immersed myself in color and shape, layer after layer, until the contrasts revealed a symphony of light and dark, weaving harmonies into a cohesive whole. At other times I focused on the bigger picture, a very different way of processing and internalizing my emotions and life situations. I still worked with color and shape, but I letmy intuition and emotions lead me toward something recognizable, something that seemed to be calling me.

Between these two, a distinct middle ground always emerges. This work came from a place of grounded satisfaction, a sense of ease and of not trying too hard.

My art is a meditation, a calming contemplation that helps me soothe, reassure, and make meaning in my life. I hope you enjoy this journey with me and find something here that speaks to you in a personal way.
