Painting is a way for me to capture and understand life. Without art I might have fallen into the trap of not appreciating life. In my work, I explore the figure through emotion, gestures, and personality. When I paint a subject, I engage in my feelings about them; their characteristics, their movements, and what they think about themselves. I wonder what about this person is unique and what relates them others and my-self.

A goal of my work is to be accessible to all and to include everyone. To accomplish this, I depict the most common occurrences in life. These moments are beautiful and provide a bond among us as a human race. You have these shared experiences with your friends, family, and strangers. It brings me pleasure to capture people’s essence in paint and to share that essence with others. I hope when viewing my artwork it reminds you of the extraordinary something every person on this planet has to give.
